Victorinox Camper Swiss Army Knife | Microlight

Victorinox Swiss Army Soldier PocketThe year is full of gift-giving occasions, and if you have an outdoorsman that needs shopping for, look no further than the Victorinox line of pocket knives. This package set Camper with Microlight is an ultimate stocking-stuffer, birthday present, or Valentine surprise.

At only 3.5 inches in length, the Camper holds 7 stainless-steel implements with 13 intended uses – two sizes of blades, two sizes of screwdriver, wood saw, can opener, bottle opener, corkscrew, toothpick, and tweezers, just to name a few of the handiest. Though I can’t count the number of times I’ve used a Victorinox in a burst of outside-the-box thinking. I’ve carried one for years, and I don’t expect to need another pocket knife for the rest of my life. (Doesn’t mean I won’t buy one though.)

The LED microlight included with the Camper knife is a bonus feature of this set which will certainly come in handy, whether poking around a tent at midnight or, with its key chain attachment, trying to get your keys in the door after dark. Shaped like the Swiss cross and shield, less than 2 inches long and less than half an ounce in weight, with a stainless-steel four-function switch inside a polycarbonate body, this LED light has a 50′ range in illumination, and might just replace your favorite miniature flashlight. And, for good measure, the light has a 1-mile signal visibility that could one day mean the difference between rescue and another few days of surviving in the wilderness off the bounty of your Victorinox.

Consider, though, that the Camper is on the more basic end of Victorinox pocket knives. Without all the clutter of unneeded tools, you could hit the trail with this knife for a few day and probably do just fine; but, if you need a knife with more options, don’t hesitate to forgo the bonus microlight and find something farther up the scale. A fisherman might find the Victorinox Angler more useful for the fish scaler and pliers, or the Ranger might work better for someone headed on a long camping/backpacking trip. You can’t be wrong with any Victorinox, so take a moment to shop around for specific features.
