While this may not be the strongest or sturdiest diving knife available, it’s certainly not a bad deal, or a bad product for that matter. The Barracuda would be an acceptable choice to carry with you on your next scuba excursion, no question.
If you’re looking for something a bit sturdier and a bit more battle-tested, check out the Underwater Kinetics Dive Knife. It’s more expensive, but it’s stronger and will last longer than this one.
The Barracuda diving knife has a 5-inch blade made from 420 stainless steel. While that’s not as strong as the UK dive knife, keep in mind that the UK boasts an elite titanium blade. And that’s ridiculously strong! However, 420 steel is decent too, and it’s less expensive.
The blade is fully equipped to handle anything you’d need to tackle underwater. It has a sharpened plain edge as well as a gut hook on the bottom, and a deep serrated edge on top. Both edges come to a long spear point at the tip.
The Barracuda locks into its sheath securely, and releases with one push of a button. When you need to use it, you’ll like that the handle is ridged and easy to grip, and features a stainless steel hammer on the pommel as well.
So it’s not the cream of the crop, but so what? It’s a good deal and it’ll come in really handy underwater. That’s what matters.
