Wooden Cookbook Stand Cooks always acquire cookbooks, but most books aren't built of materials that survive well in the kitchen. Instead of ruining the printed words of your favorite chef with butter and sphagetti sauce spatters, try this solidly built and attractive cookbook stand from Bartelt.

The cookbook stand, 12.5 inches wide by 11 inches tall and 6 inches deep, uses one acrylic plate to support the back of the book and a second clear acrylic plate to protect the open pages. Switching the support to one of the three foundation slots in the stand expands the cookbook stand to hold even the thickest manuals. Both support and front plate act as splashguards and quickly wipe clean. Books are still a little vulnerable from the sides, but with a little pre-planning that shouldn't be a problem. Since the stand sits flat on its lacquered wood base, try to keep it out of water and other countertop liquids. Setting the book rest on a folded towel should avoid most troubles.

When not in use the stand itself folds to cookbook size. Keep it handy in a cabinet, or dry off the lacquer finished alder hardwood and store it on the bookshelf. If you know someone who makes endless trips to the living room to peer at a cookbook they can't actually touch, you know someone who'll appreciate this cookbook stand. It even stops the pages from blowing in the wind.
