Whenever I get a pumpkin carving kit, it’s always one of those mega-store cheap sets with the flimsy little saw knives that end up bending or breaking after I carve out my first ghost.
I had no idea about the Dremel carver last year though, and wish I had. This is something every pumpkin-carving aficionado should look into, because it’ll make things go a lot quicker and smoother for you. Here’s what you need to know about the Dremel:
It’s a 6-volt rotary tool, and has 2 different rotation speeds: 6,000 or 12,000 rpm. It comes with a 1/8-inch high speed cutter and a wrench. It takes four AA batteries, none of which are included. And it’s backed by a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Plus, it also includes 10 paper templates as a cutting guide if you need a jump-start on artistic ideas. Plus, if you use those up and/or you want to look for more, several more templates are available to print out from the Dremel website. You can expand or shrink them on your computer to make them big enough to fit the pumpkin you’re working on.
Since it’s a pretty powerful tool, you’ll want to keep caution in mind if your kids like to carve pumpkins as much as you do. But it’ll carve a lot faster, meaning more fun for you and your family this Halloween.
