SOG Knives | Specialty Tactical Folding and Fixed Blade
A relative newcomer to the knife-making game, SOG knives has been in business for “only” twenty some-odd years. But they’ve made up for lost time to become one of the most innovative companies producing blades today.
Company History
The story of the SOG Knives Company begins twenty years before it was formed. During the Vietnam war, an elite US military group with an awkward name went looking for a new knife. Known as the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (or MACV-SOG for short), this group designed and commissioned the production of an “untraceable knife”. This knife had to be rugged enough to survive the harsh environments of Vietnam, and yet had to be unmarked and nondescript enough so as to be untraceable to its manufacturer and country of origin. Hence, the SOG Knife was born.
Twenty years later, when forming a new knife making company focused on tactical knives, Spencer and Gloria Frazer looked to this knife for inspiration. SOG Specialty Knives was born in 1986 and has been producing top-quality knives ever since.
Of course, SOG has more going for it than just a name. Founder and Chief Designer Spencer Frazer is a true renaissance man, having worked as an audio engineer, a toy designer and an artist. When he finally got around to designing knives, his diverse background helped him bring new perspectives to an age-old industry. His designs have been innovative and creative, earning SOG a reputation as a true ground-breaker.
The SOG Knives
SOG is probably best known for its line of Navy Seal knives. These include the Seal Team, the Seal Pup and “Elite” versions of each. SOG also makes a successful line of folding knives that include the best-selling “Twitch” and “Flash”. SOG also features multi-tools such as the “Paratool” and the “Powerlock”.
SOG has recently begun to market a set of knives referred to as “Fusion”. These blades combine futuristic designs with modern technology to produce a unique looking products. Such products include the “Muscle Car”, the “Spirit” and the “Contractor”.

Stainless Steel Bead Blasted Hardwood Handle w/ Leather Sheath
Cutting roughly a third of length and weight out, compared to the large version of the SOG Woodline, the Woodline WD02-L still provides plenty of knife. In fact, you may not miss that extra inch of blade at all.
Overall length of the small fixed blade Woodline is 8.7 inches, ...
Hunting & Fishing Plain Edge Survival Blade
SOG's Woodline knives put the company's tactical quality to work for the hunter and fisherman. Built for practical camp work and survival needs, the Woodline knives skip the military features civilians don't require.
There's no tactical black coating, and you won't find a dagger point built for stabbing. The ...
Compact Survival Plain Edge by Specialty Knives & Tools
SOG's Woodline WD-50 Folder fits in a belt pouch, not in the pocket. For a compact survival knife large enough to make difference, that's a very sensible idea -- pocket clip styles get snagged on brush and disappear.
The Woodline WD-50 keeps the unusual styling of SOG's other Woodline civilian ...
Tactical Black Folding Knife SOGAC77
Credit card knives usually don't include much steel or much functionality, but the SOG Access Card 2.0 Knife is very impressive for a low profile cutter. Only 3/16 inches thick without the pocket clip, this tactical black folder opens and closes with one hand and even provides a ...

Locking Black TiNi Survival Saw Blade
More than a folding knife and not quite a fixed blade, the SOG Speciality Knives & Tools FX21-N Revolver SEAL shows some of the good features of both. Both knife and saw blades were ground from the same strong bar of 440A high carbon stainless steel.
The basics of the ...
Black EOD Knife B67-N with Pliers, Fuse Lighter
Bitter memories of standard-issue military gear always make me skeptical of manufacturers who produce military-style products like the SOG Power Assist EOD Multi-tool. This time, SOG meets more than military standards and creates a tool which should be a first-choice item.
Several good improvements are included here, and I'd have been ...
Stainless Steel Black Blade FF-11, Pocket Clip
SOG's FF-11 Salute -- which the company refers to as their first Fusion tactical folder -- puts all the technical expertise of that innovative manufacturer to good use. The result is a high-tech knife that isn't tough to understand, with a few unusually good features.

Stainless Steel Clip Point Sawtooth Blade
Sadly, this small fully automatic tactical knife is only for law enforcement, military personnel, and a very few other special groups. An automatic knife would always be in my pocket if that were not so -- the difference between an automatic and a fixed blade is something like ...
Specialty Knives, Fusion Spirit FS01-N
The SOG FS01-N Fusion Spirit Knife combines belt knife and spearhead with options for attaching a full length shaft. Wear it on the belt in the knife-style nylon sheath and use the Spirit as you would any stout belt knife. If you need a long weapon, you have the option of ...
Military Ax Review
In Vietnam, American Special Forces soldiers soon learned a lesson their ancestors knew very well--a tomahawk is better than a knife for close combat. In spite of its popularity, my own opinion of the Vietnam tomahawk has always been that it's a wimpy little ax, with a head that's too ...

The Daggert 2 is one heck of a military knife. Every little detail is thought out for maximum utility and durability. SOG really hit the jackpot!

SOG Assisted Technology
The SOG Twitch series is a good product line to consider if you're a fan of precision and technology.
The knives in the series feature a few bells and whistles, so if you like things plain and simple, it might be best to steer clear of these for now. However, if ...
Tanto VG-10 Steel Blade
If you own a set of high-end Japanese kitchen knives and have ever wondered to yourself "hey these work pretty well, a lot better than my pocketknife, so what gives..." you'll be pleased to hear that the folks at SOG Knives had the same thought running through their minds.

SOG Specialty Knives
It would take a lot for a multi-function tool to ever surpass the standard that Leatherman has already set in place. So does SOG break the mold with the S-60 Powerlock? Maybe.
Let's take a look at the basic features: It comes with 15 different tools: an array of small/med/large ...
